Andrew Metrick from Elte here. I thought I'd quickly thank you for featuring one of our products in this latest entry of yours on accent tables. An accent table is always a great way to add personality to a room. Elte's "Philippe I" side table does just that. There's a irony about it that hits you on a few levels. It goes without saying that it mixes elements of traditional design and modern but what I especially love is the rawness of the leg itself. It takes guts, from a design point of view, to leave the wood exposed instead of continuing the black lacquer all the way down. It's a reminder that the world's best designers are the best because they know when to hold back and when to take chances. The Philippe I side table comes out of Italy and is available at Elte in black or white.

My name is Andrew Metrick and I'm from Elte. I just wanted to thank you for featuring some of our products in this blog post. Elte's a family business that was started by my great grandfather, which makes my brother and I the fourth generation. So thank you once again. It means a lot. Anyway, I do my best to visit as many local interior design blogs as I can and this is the first time I've come by yours so I'll definitely be adding it to my list. Hopefully I'll see you at Elte or Ginger's sometime soon. We have an event coming up next week which you should definitely come to. We have Tracy Moore from CityLine coming in to host a Design Talk with three of Toronto's top designers. It should be lots of fun.

Anyway, thanks again and keep up the amazing work. It's a great blog.

Andrew.

PS. The Second Floor at Elte opens today! (Sorry, I wish I could stop myself from shamelessly plugging news like this but it really is a big deal for us. The space is beautiful!) Hope you can come see it.

Comment on Wall Clocks or Works of Art? by Laura Kutner

I have never especially liked hanging clocks on a wall for the same reason you mentioned - they really have been "merely a functional tool" in the past. But now that I see this post, it a completely different story! The very first clock, "Arlecchino", is just amazing! It would not only add colour to any of my rooms but for me, it would also be a pleasant reminder of the very colourful costume mask Arlecchino (Harlequin in English) known very well to Italian culture - I love it for so many reasons!

I also REALLY love the Butterfly. Definitely something I would choose for my own place. So original! I'm thinking I may look into adding a wall clock to my collection of accessories...thanks for your post!

I LOVE every white piece you mention in this blog. It reminds me of the white accent pieces, the white dishes, bowls, mugs and serving platters (and even tea pots) that made up some of my favorite features of our first condo - of course, with your guidance and direction. I still feel that white has such a clean, modern feel to it - love it as both a 'backdrop' colour or used in accent pieces.

My very favorite piece here is definitely the wave sideboard - it got me itching to go shopping for more white!! Thanks for sharing there beautiful pieces and fabulous ideas!!

I love the mirrors. They add such personality to what is normally just a boring wall. Such an interesting accent becomes a conversation piece and really makes the space come alive.

I can't wait to see what you do with this space. You have a pretty clean canvas to work with and be able to use your imagination. I look forward to checking your posts so that I could see the progress of these pojects and eventually the finished products. This is exciting and I am sure fun for the recipient of your hard work!

Anita Congratulations,
The room before looked so plain and bleak, and the after guest room looks so comfortable and peaceful. You really have made it a welcoming space, maybe a little too welcoming that the guests might not want to leave! A job well done.
